Publishers green cloth stamped in gilt; Purple and gold floral endpapers. 8vo; 8.75 inches tall; 230, [2] pp.

Illustrated from drawings & photographs; color frontispiece. Bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning. The author was a Stanford University Professor of Horticulture, his impressive collection of prose and poetry of the history and significance of the California poppy is both beautiful and informative. The text is illustrated throughout with floriated initial caps, head and tail pieces in the Art Nouveau fashion. Period photographs, drawings and a tissue-guarded color frontispiece complete this tribute to the California Poppy.

The binding design of two poppy motifs in gold is by T. All of the art decorations are attributed and include Florence Lundborg (member of the San Francisco group known as "Les Jeunes"), Marion Taverner, Arthur F Mathews (father of the Arts and Craft Movement).
