STEFANO CUSUMANO, ARTIST AND TEACHER. Stefano Cusumano, a painter and for 19 years an art teaches at Cooper Union died yesterday in Eureka, Calif.

He was 63 years old. Cusumano had more than 20 one-man exhibitions here and abroad and his paintings are in the permanent collections of leading American museums. Reviewers in The New York Times called his paintings "elegant, " "informed" and "lyrical, " and one reviewer described him as "a consummate master" of his elaborately formulated style.

Cusumano studied at Cooper Union and the Metropolitan Art School. He had studio in Manhattan for many years and, until he retired last year, was an adjunct associate professor at Cooper Union.
