The world premiere of Road Show was produced by The Public Theatre in New York City on October 28, 2008. Directed by John Doyle, the cast included Alexander Germignani, Michael Cerveris, Alma Cuervo, William Parry, Claybourne Elder, Alisha de Haas, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Mylinda Hull, Mel Johnson, Jr. Nathan, Matthew Stocke, William Youmans, Kristine Zbornik, David Garry, and Katrina Yaukey.

BOLDLY INSCRIBED BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM on the half-title. The production won a Drama Desk Award in the category of Outstanding Lyrics (Stephen Sondheim), and Obie Awards in the categories of both Music and Lyrics (Stephen Sondheim).
