Stephen Sondheim DO I HEAR A WALTZ 1966 First Printing INSCRIBED SIGNED DATED
DO I HEAR A WALTZ? New York: Random House, (1966). Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Richard Rodgers, book by Arthur Laurents. INSCRIBED BY STEPHEN SONDHEIM on the front free endpaper to Clive Hirschhorn, longtime theater critic for the British Sunday Express and author of several books on Hollywood. Experience has shown this title to be the most difficult early Sondheim libretto to find in a first printing, especially so with a signed and dated association to a colleague (as opposed to a fan). Opened on Broadway on March 18, 1965 at the 46th Street Theatre and closed on September 25, 1965 after 220 performances. This item is in the category "Books & Magazines\Antiquarian & Collectible".
