Robert Annesley is a painter, sculptor, graphic artist, poet, & Native American member of Cherokee tribe through his Indian father from Crookson Hills, OK. After graduating from University of Oklahoma, he developed his diverse talents mastering skills in printmaking, oil, watercolor, pencil, pen & ink, silverpoint, bronze, mixed-media, etc.
Prize winner at 14, first solo show at 18, evolving quickly to many museum exhibits, including Cherokee National Museum, Southern Plains Indian Museum. Later awards were presented from Five Civilized Tribes Museum, Heard Museum, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian and so many more. Created in 1978, this wonderful work is a hand signed graphite print of a Native Woman creating hand woven fabrics. This is finely detailed down to each strand of hair. Included on a back pouch is a poem called "SEMINOLE PATTERNS" type-written by artist along with extensive information of his history below. The quality thick frame is fantastic, in gold leaf & intricate designs, the burgundy matting has a specialty cut on the four corners adding another amazing surprise to the remarkable piece. Certainly, makes an exceptional gift, with the pouch on back storing the poetry for life making this not just art, but a true keepsake. Estate Sale find from an incredible home from a distinguished private collection, very find piece.
