Text was printed on Zanders handmade paper by the State Printing Office in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1930 in a new type cut by Vojtech Preissig. Linoleum cuts by Preissig (3 original linoleum cuts in 3 colors). Original quarter vellum binding, title printed in purple and yellow on the covers. Is a poem that was first published in the second edition of Leaves of Grass (1856) as one of the twenty new poems not included in the first edition of 1855. A joyous ode to the world, this poem is indicative of Whitman's early optimism, as well as his affinities for natural beauty and international camaraderie.A formative figure in early 20th century Czech graphic design, Preissig is celebrated not only for his contributions to art but also for his resistance to the Nazis, which led to his death at Dachau in 1944.
