If only this book could talk! This is an original antique piece that I acquired in Europe, it seems most of the writing on the pages is in German? What is interesting about it besides the beautiful latching cover is that the various entries are in differing hand writing with various names and dates so it seems like it resided somewhere where various people could contribute to it over the years.

I wish I could translate it and know what everyone was writing about. Would make a unique, romantic and interesting gift for someone who enjoys history, antiques, poetry, or Art Nouveau. Some of the original pages inside are loose, but they could be removed or additional pages added to use as a poetry book even today, as the cover and latch are still intact. Could also make an interesting day planner, journal, passport holder, or wallet, if you were to tuck some slotted sleeves inside to hold cash, credit cards and license - a real antique great conversation piece. Seems to be a sort of navy blue vinyl material on the cover, embossed with a pink poppy with green leaves, and gold embossed title reading "Poesie" (German, French and Italian for "Poetry") all in a textbook Art Nouveau design.

In estate condition considering age. The pages have some spotting, a few smudges and discoloration from age.

Some of the pages are loose from the binding. Wear to all the edges of the vinyl covered board covers where the underlying cardboard shows through. Some fading and scuffs to the images, but still perfectly functioning.

I would say that the wear would be expected in a 100 plus year old piece as they often don't age this well. But as with all my estate items - Please see photos closely as this is not a mint condition item. Measures about 7 1/2" by 4 3/4".
