Librairie Picard, 38, Rue Saint-Jacques, Paris, France. Finely Bound Leather Book, 300 Pages. This is a very beautiful, antique, 1853, book, which was published by Librairie Picard. 38, Rue Saint-Jacques, Paris, France.

It has finely decorated, white-leather covers, with a 3.5-inch-by-2.5-inch color artwork on the front cover. The color artwork shows a man on a bench, surrounded by bees. This is a book of religious poetry, compiled in alphabetical order based on each poem's main theme: from "Abbaye de Sainte-Denis" by De Treneuil, to "Zele" by N. Lemercier, and it is completely in the French Language. As the subtitle of the book states, it contains Christian poetry by the best poets since the Renaissance.

The book's frontispiece page has an incredibly sharp engraving by Huyot ("Huyot Sculp" stated below artwork; see pic). I cannot identify the artists of the book's color front-cover. The book's text has dozens of small drawings, but I also cannot identify the artists. The book also does not have any publishing date stated. When I researched the Paris publishers named on the book's Title Page.

38, Rue Saint-Jacques, Paris, France, I found this is very likely to be an antique, 1853 Edition. This publisher was located at this extremely prominent address in Paris in the 1850's. It is a beautiful, vintage, 1853, book with fine, leather covers.

It is a nice, historic, vintage, book in clean, well-bound, solid condition. Covers are slightly edge-worn with a couple tiny chips (see pics), first 4 pages are moderately foxed (including Title Page; see pics), and last 2 pages are moderately foxed (including rear endpapers; see pics), a few other pages have very light foxing; otherwise, book is well-bound, tight with strong hinges, text is quite clean, very sharply printed, and beautifully decorated with finely gilded covers, color art on cover, finely engraved frontispiece, and numerous small drawings in text. 7.25" x 4.5" x 1, thick white-leather covers, finely decorated with floral designs in gilt and black, with. A 3.5-inch-by-2.5-inch color artwork. Of bees and a man on the cover.
