14 x 11, handsomely illus. W/ full & partial page sepia background engravings.

100- 125 pages (sides), text block about 3/4 thick, heavy stock. Text in both German & English. At least 2 poems ("The Volunteer" & "Orphans of Gettysburg") deal with the U. 2 title pages show appropriate dates. INSCRIBED on 2nd blank page "To ----- ------ ---, with the author's compliments", but NO signature.

Green cloth, beveled edges, stamped border design, gilt pictorial design of palette & brushes on front. All edges of text block are gold gilt.

Binding shows only light rubbing, very small corner bumps & frays, light fray at top & bottom of spine, small nick (3/8) at spine bottom. Some light water spot flecking on front cover- unobtrusive (almost missed it).

All above flaws are MINOR- book displays very well. Gold cover decoration w/ palette & title crisp & intact.

In excellent condition; tight, bright, clean, unmarked. Binding & text block tight & square w/ NO hinge splits or looseness.

First rate production standards & a very interesting volume in excellent condition. NOTE: Moras (1821- 1908) was a German-American artist (& poet), who settled in Philadelphia.

In 1903 he won Bronze medal at the American Art society exhibition in Phila. Times article (from Google) regarding this is included.
