A rare, because the 1902, first edition. With arts & crafts / art nouveau cover design, book. Enschedé en Zonen in Haarlem, for Maison Blok,'s Gravenhage / The Hague, 1902. Full vellum, yapp edges / overlapping parchment; the 16th - 17th C. Way of overlapping covers, spine and front blocked with gold decoration, top edge gilt, outside red silk tie missing, red silk bookmark present but torned, printed on handmade paper. 15,5 x 10 x 1,5 cm / 6.1 x 3.9 x 0.6 inch. Condition: good, firm, no restoration.

Vellum and gilding nice, some spots and discolouring, inside very nice, outside tie missing, bookmark torned but present. Small old sticker on inside of a Dutch bookshop: Gebr. Van der Hoek, Leiden, Breestraat over het Stadhuis, Boekhandelaren. And an owner stamp on half-title, not fully readable, but with the name of the Dutch village Warmond.

Boutens might have requested the book design to be as the Lyrical Poems, of the English private press movement. Edited by Ernest Rhys, published since 1894 by J.
