Although the condition is rough for this, it is COMPLETE, containing 30 poems and illustrations comprising Apollinaire's Bestiary. Mind-blowing woodcut illustrations by Fauvist Raoul Dufy. This was originally published in 1911, with this limited edition being printed just after he died. His work influenced the early beginnings of Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, and Apollinaire is credited with having first coined and used the word Surrealism.
This is roughly 104 years old, complete, although the BINDING IS FAILING, and definitely a candidate for repair or restoration OR for piecing out the poems/illustrations and FRAMING them. The thread/sewn binding is starting to come undone/separate.This book is on the delicate side, yet I've been able to go through and examine/enjoy myself, just be careful. The front cover is present but completely separated. Severe damage to the exterior spine strip. Some kind of scuff/peel along the spine front/rear. A few pages uncut, but ALL poems/illustrations are properly cut and accessible.
Internally, toning to the pages, NOT severe. The paper is still soft/supple, the poetry and illustration inking is still rich and vibrant. Book is preserved in an acid-free archival bag with backing board for stability. I will happily answer any further questions. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers.
Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer.
If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success. I've packed books securely for 3 decades and will take great care with your order.
This is not something in my control, nor do I handle that in any way. Thank you for considering this offering!
