Antique 1846 MOORE'S IRISH MELODIES Engravings FINE LEATHER BINDING Maclise Art

  

Up for sale is this wonderful antique 1846 finely bound copy of Moore's Irish Melodies. The book is beautifully illustrated by D. Maclise with several black and white engravings. It is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age.

The covers only have some light scuffing and wear. All of the page edges are gold gilt. There are some small sections of light cracking to the endpapers at the interior hinges, however the binding of the book is good and strong. The front fep has a neatly written name inscription which is dated 1955. The interior is toned from age with foxing to the majority of pages.

Some pages are more heavily foxed than others. The plain text pages at the rear of the book have some very minor, pale, and insignificant damp-staining to the top page margin; it really isn't very noticeable. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other. Minor imperfection such as a light bit of soiling or grubbiness, creased page corner, tiny chip or tear, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy.

The book measures approximately 10 5/8 inches by 7 3/4 inches and is 280 pages long. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
