1928 William Blake THE BOOK OF THEL, 1/1700 copies, 1789 Poetry Art, Fine Condition

  

THE BOOK OF THEL was a very short. Illustrated poem about the Church of England. (as interpreted by most scholars on the subject). Blake wrote the poem around 1789 as the title. Page has that date inscribed on it.

This Facsimile from the British Museum. Is now nearly 100 years old. This rare William Blake Facsimile is. Published in the publisher's original black.

Cloth with Gold Gilt Title and decorations. It is in NEAR FINE, exceptional condition. It has only the slightest trace of wear.

To the boards and some very minimal. Soiling to the rear board, some age toning. To the paper, but no internal writing, no rips. It has a tight, firm and straight binding. It is clean inside and out. The book measures approximately 8 1/2. Inches wide by around 11 inches tall. The book is hand numbered #974.

Only 850 copies each in America and England. So this is #974 out of the grand total of 1,700. This book is a beautiful, collectible copy. Worthy of a fine collection. The very RARE dust jacket is torn into two sections.

And is held together by a couple of pieces of the. Prior owner's scotch tape. This is the very first. Time I have been witness to scotch tape having. The jacket is therefore NOT.

Folded in half and placed inside the book as per. Usual, and it wasn't thrown away.

The jacket is EXCEEDINGLY RARE. It can be professionally repaired for. Probably a small amount, which I recommend. There are 12 total pages, 9 for the poem.

1 for the Limitations Page, and 3 are blank. 2 in front and 1 blank page in the rear.
