Slight tear on the spine due to being opened and read. The binding is imperfect but in excellent condition otherwise. This book is very hard to find. Sphericity is the second collaboration between Mei-mei Berssenbrugge and Richard Tuttle. In these new poems, abstractions such as beauty, value, sphericity, desire, color intersect experience in a world of ambiguous origins and intentions.
The results are poems of luminous precision written in extended lines that are lyrical, meditative, and unique in American poetry. Richard Tuttles multifarious oeuvre is a study in scale and line using common materials that have been inventively assembled and exhibited. Much of Tuttles work rethinks the potential of the line; the installation Ten Kinds of Memory and Memory Itself (1973) featured a pencil line that detached from the wall it was drawn on and continued as string along the floor.
Tuttles sculptures experiment with space in similarly inspired ways and are constructed using a panoply of industrial and organic materials, including shrink wrap, tape, metal, paper, and balloons.
