Large (16) Raku/Glazed Art Pottery Tony Evans Vase with Gazelle & Poem Vintage

  
We bought this in the early 70s, as I recall, and it has always been a favorite. The raku technique, with the glaze inside and out, is perfect, lots of surprising colors, and the theme all combine to make this a terrific piece of art. On one side a poem (looks like 11/17ths of a haiku).

"A young gazelle, the tender leaves, surrender, " in raised letters on the vase. On the other, not surprisingly, a young gazelle standing on its hind legs to reach leaves. Signed Evans Raku on the bottom. The bottom appx 3 is unglazed, adding to the effect.
