16 ½ x 21 inches. There is general toning otherwise the image is clean with strong colours. The margins have creases to edges and corners to various degrees and finger marks.

The tissue is attached along the top edge to the mount and there is a plastic film attached to cover the image (hence some reflection in the photos, sorry). Born Elise Müller, she received her art training from Heatherleys School of Art in Chelsea and went on to marry the Reverend Thomas Ashe Lord, circa 1908.

After her marriage, she adopted the name Elyse Ashe Lord to hide her German heritage due to the rising anti-German sentiment in the run-up to the Great War. Lord became known for her colour prints depicting oriental subject matter. She developed a highly individual style which she executed in an unusual technique, combining drypoint with woodcut colour printing. Utilising the drypoint plate in a similar way to Japanese key blocks in multi-block colour printing, Lord would add colours by over-painting the drypoint design using coloured-inked woodblocks. She was elected a full member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1922 and she exhibited with the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Paris Salon and the Chicago Society of Etchers, to name a few.
