1921 Limited First Edition Bound by Gilbert. Exquisite Inlaid Full-Leather Signed-Binding by Louis Gilbert Original Slipcase 43 Hand-Colored Pochoir Illustrations Limited Edition First Edition. Paris: Librairie Albert Messein, 1921. Gilt-stamped "Louis Gilbert" on front turn-in.

Limited Edition, numbered 377 of 500 copies on papier vélin. 43 beautiful part-page pochoir color illustrations by Léon Voguet. Measures about 10 x 6.5 inches. Bound in full brown morocco, both covers with 11 small circular morocco inlays in dark blue and red and gilt sunburst pattern at centers. Spine with gilt-lettered black leather labels, red circular inlay at center, semi-circle inlay at head of spine (inlay lacking at foot of spine), tall raised bands.

Wide turn-ins with quintuple gilt-rule decoration and inlaid inner leather border. Blue moire silk doublures and endleaves. Gilt-stamped presentation on front free endleaf dated 1932.

Covers are generally very clean and bright. Few slight scuffs and smudges to boards. Rubbing to corners and raised bands. Inlay lacking at foot of spine.

Internals are crisp, clean and bright. Textblock is solid and square. Minor wear to inner hinge of front silk endleaf. Slipcase: Rubbing and spotting to slipcase with splitting to corners at top.
